For our normal storage ottoman,we use the whole ottoman body to store.The storage space is large but when you need to store or take something out,you need to remove or lift the entire lid whenever storing or retrieving items.Based on this drawback,we flipped the ottoman body and add 4 drawers inside the body.You can easily store and take things out by using the drawers.
A conventional storage ottoman offers a large internal space, but accessing it normally requires lifting or removing the lid. This development explored a different approach: four drawers integrated into the ottoman body for more direct access.
The Practical Challenge
Top-opening storage works well for many items, but it can be less convenient when small belongings are used frequently. Each retrieval requires opening the main lid, even when only one item is needed. The design challenge was to change the access method while retaining the storage-furniture concept.
The Design Response
Chengjun reconfigured the ottoman body and added four internal drawers. Instead of using one large top-access compartment, the design allowed items to be stored and retrieved through the drawers.
Everyday Use
Separate drawers offer a way to organize belongings by type and access a selected section. For example, small household accessories can be grouped rather than placed together in one open compartment. These are possible uses of the layout; the appropriate contents depend on the final drawer dimensions and product instructions.
Applying the Idea to Your Collection
A drawer configuration should be assessed against the intended room, access space and storage needs. For a similar project, discuss the size of the items users will store, how frequently they need access and the preferred appearance. Dimensions, construction and packaging need to be agreed for the specific design.
